Remember the deadline to submit your data to CMS to avoid the -4% penalty in 2019 is March 31, 2018! If you have not submitted your data already, please remember an EIDM account is needed in order to attest. If you have any questions/issues while creating an EIDM account or requesting a role, contact the QPP Help Desk (1-866-288-8292 or email@example.com).
The reporting period for 2018 is January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2018 with the following category requirement breakdown:
- Advancing Care Information (25%) – Report any continuous 90-day period
- Improvement Activity (15%) – Report any continues 90-day period
- Quality (50%) – Report full calendar year
- Cost (10%) – Report full calendar year
The MIPS low-volume threshold has changed for 2018. In order to be an eligible MIPS clinician, the clinician must bill more than $90,000 a year in Medicare Part B allowed charges OR provide care for more than 200 Medicare patients a year. Remember you can log into the Quality Payment Program website at https://qpp.cms.gov to check your providers’ participation status.
Another change to make note of is how to avoid the negative payment adjustment. In 2017, a minimum of 3 points were required to avoid the penalty. This is jumping to 15 points in 2018. Submitting a CPT II code on 1 claim for 1 patient will no longer cut it in 2018! A deeper look into the requirements and point allocation is a must in order to avoid the penalty for 2020.
